University of Pennsylvania Electrical & Systems Engineering Department

Philadelphia, PA

When the University of Pennsylvania’s Departments of Electrical Engineering and Systems Engineering merged to form the Department of Electrical and Systems Engineering (ESE), Synergy was called upon to support renovations. Synergy installed five different glazing systems to achieve the architect’s vision. Private offices incorporate interior storefront partitions; the administrator’s office features laminated glass with a gradient inner layer. Walls of the lab and collaboration space are wrapped in marker boards with a magnetic inner layer. Tempered glass surrounds the conference room. Fire-rated glass separates the department from the building core. The main entry features frameless double doors and a glass film customized with the Penn logo.
